Spring conditions. Water temperatures beginning to rise, increasing fish activity. Shore fishing productive as fish move to shallower water. Ice may still be present at higher elevations in early spring.
The Grand Mesa, the largest flat-top mountain in the world, is home to over 300 lakes offering excellent trout fishing in a beautiful alpine setting. With elevations ranging from 9,000 to 11,000 feet, these lakes provide ideal habitat for rainbow, brook, brown, and cutthroat trout. Popular lakes include Island Lake, Mesa Lake, and Alexander Lake, which are regularly stocked and provide both shoreline and boat fishing opportunities.
