About
Gunnector is a 1-mile mountain biking trail located in the Lunch Loops network near Grand Junction, Colorado. The trailhead sits at an elevation of approximately 5,417 feet, with a total elevation range spanning from 5,166 to 5,426 feet. Classified as a difficult or black diamond route, Gunnector offers technical riding on ground surface terrain. It spurs east from the Gunny Loop trail, positioned about half a mile from Little Park Road. By taking this shortcut, riders bypass approximately 1.3 miles of the longer Gunny Loop route, avoiding a specific climb back to the Little Park Road trailhead. This direct connection allows for faster travel through the desert landscape, though it excludes a section of Gunny Loop known for its downhill character. The trail is managed by the BLM Grand Junction Field Office and remains open to mountain bikes, hikers, dogs, and horses throughout the season from April through October. Parking is available near the trailhead, making it accessible for local riders seeking a short but intense ride. Current conditions indicate dry soil and clear skies, typical for the Western Slope climate.
