The Gunnison River SWA Access Trail is a short, easy 0.5-mile hike located in Gunnison, Colorado, leading from Charmar Park to the Gunnison River. Starting at an elevation of 7,721 feet, the route descends gently to the river's edge. The trail begins at a designated parking area and heads west across a bridge. Hikers continue west through an intersection with the Van Tuyl Trail (Trail #9431) and proceed through a second intersection marked by a walk-through fence gap. The trail is suitable for all skill levels and typically takes about 15 minutes to complete. Parking is available at the trailhead. The area is managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife as a State Wildlife Area, requiring a valid hunting or fishing license or an SWA pass for visitors aged 16 and older. Firearms and bows are prohibited except when hunting waterfowl on the Van Tuyl Tract. The trail is open year-round. No water sources or restrooms are listed at the trailhead.
