Hallam Lake is a 25-acre nature preserve and environmental learning center in Aspen, Colorado, managed by the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Located at 100 Puppy Smith St., just behind the Aspen Post Office, the site offers a half-mile loop trail suitable for fall hiking. The trail meanders through wetlands, aspen forests, and meadows, featuring observation decks and a nature center. The preserve is open year-round, with specific fall hiking access supported by the facility's operating hours (9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday). Parking is available on the left before the stone gates leading to the trail. The area supports diverse wildlife, including mule deer, elk, foxes, coyotes, bears, beavers, and various bird species. The moderate difficulty and approximately 2-hour duration align with the short loop distance. Restrooms are available at the trailhead. Pets are permitted.
