Hayes Creek Falls is a waterfall located in Pitkin County, near Redstone and Carbondale on the Western Slope of Colorado. The site sits within the White River National Forest along Highway 133, adjacent to the Crystal River. The falls feature multiple cascades dropping approximately 40 feet into a rocky pool, with water flow measured at around 99 cubic feet per second. Access is straightforward via a roadside pull-off on CO-133, making it visible directly from the highway for quick viewing. For a more substantial walk, a 2.4-mile out-and-back trail leads to the falls with an elevation gain of roughly 350 feet, starting at approximately 7,450 to 7,568 feet. This trail is rated moderate and typically takes about two hours to complete. The area is open year-round, though September through November offers moderate hiking conditions. Parking is available in a designated pull-off area with space for several vehicles, though hikers should park off the main road due to traffic on Highway 133. The site is pet-friendly, allowing dogs on leash. No entrance fees or permits are required. Nearby amenities include the Redstone Historic Coke Ovens and the Redstone campground.
