The Hungry Bucket is a sport climbing crag located near Ouray, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The primary feature is a 50-foot vertical face with an arching arete that projects to the left. The route offers a moderate 5.9 challenge, making it suitable for climbers with some experience who are looking to refine their technique on solid Colorado rock. The climb is characterized by a slightly polished surface and generous bolt spacing, with seven bolts along the face leading to a ring bolt and chain anchor at the top. The rock texture supports confident footwork, though holds become more technical above the first third of the ascent. The crag is south-facing, which warms the stone and allows for year-round access from January to December. Mid-morning or late afternoon climbs are recommended to avoid harsh summer sun and optimize friction on the surface. Parking is available on site, and the area is pet-friendly. The location sits within the Ridgway Dike Wall in a high-desert environment with sparse juniper and scrub. While the approach is short, allowing for a quick warmup, the surrounding landscape provides views of the San Juan Mountains and the Ouray valley. The route was established through a community-driven bolt fund effort.
