Idle Hands is a rock climbing destination located in Montrose, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The site sits at an elevation of 5,134 feet and offers moderate difficulty routes suitable for climbers with some experience. Parking is available on-site, and the area is open year-round from January through December. Pets are permitted at the location. The climbing area features distinct rock formations, including a prominent east face and a large dome. Routes are primarily traditional (trad) climbs with some multi-pitch options. One notable route begins on the left side of the east face, featuring a short, crimpy pull onto a low-angle face that leads to a solid lieback flake. Another significant multi-pitch route is situated on the far left side of the dome, just to the right of a route named Bleak. This larger climb spans approximately 600 feet across three pitches, ranging in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.10c. The rock type is described as glacial granite, characterized by steep flakes and solid holds. Climbers typically use cams ranging from .5 to 2 inches and a set of nuts for protection. The site is accessible throughout the year, allowing for consistent access regardless of seasonal changes.
