The trail serves as an access point for hiking, mountain biking, and bouldering on Animas City Mountain. It is a multi-use path that allows leashed dogs and bikes but excludes motorcycles and ATVs. The route begins at a dirt parking area accessible via 25th Street (Junction Creek Road) off Highway 550. The trail offers approximately 260 to 270 feet of elevation gain, reaching a summit near 6,960 feet. Conditions are generally good year-round, though winter snow and ice may require preparation. The surface is a wide dirt track suitable for casual hiking and biking.
