James Brown's Wild Ride is a sport climbing route located in Rifle Mountain Park, just west of Denver on Colorado’s Western Slope. Situated at an elevation of 5,546 feet, the climb is classified as difficult with a grade of 5.11d. It is located on the Meat Wall, specifically positioned as the left of two parallel lines approximately 50 feet to the right and 80 feet up from the route 'Meat'. The wall features largely good limestone, though climbers should be aware that chunks of rock can detach, particularly on the sharp end. The route consists of a nearly dead vertical face with high continuity and numerous crimps. While the difficulty is consistent, it dips slightly in the middle section before resuming. Protection requires eight to eleven draws and a rope. The route was first ascended by Rob Floyd in 1995 and has been re-bolted to address issues with bolts placed in hollow rock. Access is permitted by the town of Rifle, but climbers must adhere to regulations as the area is a designated climbing zone. Parking is available near the site, and pets are allowed. The area experiences higher traffic on weekends, particularly between May and September, but remains accessible year-round.
