About
The Jumbo Campground Connector is a short, easy mountain biking route located on the northern slope of Grand Mesa in Western Colorado. Situated between Jumbo and Sunset Lakes, this connector links to the West Bench Trail No. 501, a multi-use path open to hiking and horseback riding. The trailhead sits at an elevation of approximately 10,373 feet, with the surrounding campground established at 9,800 feet among mature spruce and aspen trees. The route is suitable for riders of all skill levels, offering a gentle ride with minimal technical features. Parking is available near the trailhead, and pets are allowed on the route. The area typically supports mountain biking from April through October, depending on snow conditions. Visitors can access drinking water and vault toilets at the nearby campground, which features 26 sites, most with electric hookups. The location provides easy access to fishing and canoeing on Jumbo and Sunset Lakes, which are open to non-motorized watercraft. Wildlife including deer and elk frequents the area, and mosquitoes are common enough to require repellent.
