About
The Kroger Via Ferrata is a moderate climbing route located near Telluride, Colorado, suspended approximately 600 feet above the Valley Floor. Built by local climber Chuck Kroger, the trail utilizes iron cables and rungs to traverse steep cliff sections. The experience combines hiking with technical climbing, requiring a harness and energy-absorbing lanyards for safety. Hikers must remain clipped in at all times using two lanyards. The route is situated near Bridal Veil Falls and offers views of the town and surrounding San Juan Mountains. Access typically begins at the Bridal Veil Falls trailhead, involving a hike up switchbacks to the starting point. The trail is generally open from June through November, with peak foliage occurring in the fall. The route is approximately two to five miles long and takes about two hours to complete. Parking is available at the trailhead. The trail is pet-friendly and free to use.
