About
Ladies First is a sport climbing route located in Rifle Mountain Park, west of Denver. The route sits at an elevation of 5,735 feet and is classified as difficult. It is a 70-foot (21-meter) sport climb featuring an 8-bolt protection system with chain anchors. The climb begins on a low-angle arete characterized by large scoops and flakes. After approximately 50 feet of easier climbing, the route follows a rail to surmount a bulge. The original grade was 9, but broken holds have raised the difficulty slightly. This is the first route to the left of the main approach trail. The area offers parking and allows pets. Rifle Mountain Park is known for limestone sport climbing, particularly routes graded 5.12 and higher. The park experiences moderate to high traffic on weekends from May through September. Climbers should be aware of local regulations managed by the Rifle Climbers' Coalition.
