Limey Peel is a single-pitch traditional rock climbing route located in Cracked Canyon, near Telluride and Norwood on the Western Slope of Colorado. Situated at 11,781 feet elevation, the route ascends the leftmost of two broad cracks on the canyon's west side. The climb is rated 5.9, offering a moderate difficulty level characterized by straightforward crack moves and generous features on solid rock rather than tight crux sections. Climbers perform hand jams and use slick feet placements to ascend the continuous line. Protection requires a double rack of cams up to size #3, with few super tight placements needed. A 3-bolt anchor at the top, connected by webbing, allows for confident top rope setups and cleanups. The approach is short, approximately 15 minutes from parking near Ophir, traversing easy terrain through sagebrush and sparse pines. Parking is available on site. The route is pet friendly and accessible year-round, though spring through fall provides the most reliable dry conditions. Southern exposure means the wall warms quickly in midday sun, making early morning or late afternoon climbs preferable during warmer months. The area offers clear access directions and is part of a broader climbing region featuring multi-pitch routes and sport climbs.
