Logchutes Downhill is a dedicated, multi-use mountain biking trail located in the San Juan National Forest near Durango, Colorado. The route begins at the Junction Creek Road trailhead, situated approximately four miles past the Colorado Trail trailhead. Riders typically access the trail via a shuttle from the upper section of Junction Creek Road, though the area also offers cross-country connections. The trail descends over 1,000 feet through ponderosa pine forests, characterized by fast, loose sandy dirt and loose rocky surfaces. It is rated as difficult or black diamond, requiring advanced technical skills and offering a steep, technical descent. The trail is approximately 1.4 to 1.7 miles long and ends at an intersection with Westview Loop and Logchutes 3. The area is open from April through October and sits at elevations ranging from 7,200 to 9,500 feet, generally cooler than Durango. Parking is available at the dirt parking area on Junction Creek Road. The trail is multi-use, so riders should watch for vehicles and hikers crossing the road.
