The Lorax Trail is a 3-mile lollipop loop in Carbondale, Colorado, located on BLM land off Thompson Creek Road (CR 108). The route consists of a one-mile straight section leading to a one-mile loop, resulting in a total distance of three miles round trip. The trail is classified as moderate to moderately challenging and typically takes between one hour 18 minutes and two hours to complete. The surface transitions from a rocky initial climb near the parking lot to smooth dirt with winding sections through a pinion juniper canopy. Hikers encounter unique, twisted trees and distant views of Mount Sopris. The trail is open to hiking and mountain biking from May through October, with bike restrictions in place from December 1 to April 15. Parking is available at the trailhead, and dogs are permitted on leashes.
