The route spans approximately 0.25 to 0.6 miles with an elevation gain of roughly 260 feet, reaching a peak around 7,319 feet. It is rated as difficult or Double Black Diamond for mountain bikers and challenging for hikers, featuring an average grade of 17.7 percent. The trail surface is dirt and connects the lower Animas West Rim to Animas Mountain Trail. Parking is available at the trailhead, which sits near coordinates 37.31163, -107.88164.
