About

Lupine Trail is a moderate, singletrack mountain biking route located in Crested Butte, Colorado, just north of the Slate River Road. Built in 2011 and 2012 by the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association, the trail system consists of two sections that offer fast, flowy downhill riding with minimal climbing. It is one of the first trails in the area to melt off snow in the spring due to its south-facing slope, making it a reliable early-season option. The trail provides views of the Slate River Valley and wildflowers, particularly lupine, in the summer. Riders typically access the trailhead from the Saddle Ridge Lane cul-de-sac off Gothic Road, though it can also be reached from Slate River Road. Parking is available at the Saddle Ridge Lane start, but riders must avoid parking on Saddle Ridge Road itself or along Gothic Road. The trail serves as a popular connector to the Snodgrass and Lower Loop systems. While the database lists the elevation at 7,705 feet, web sources describe it as a short, fast ride suitable for after-work sessions or as part of a longer loop starting from town via the Rec. Path.
