The route is a straightforward loop that climbs approximately 250 feet in elevation gain, reaching a summit elevation of 7,705 feet. It typically takes about one hour to complete. The terrain consists of dirt and rock paths through sagebrush, offering open views of the city of Gunnison, Hartman Rocks, and Signal Peak. The trail provides no shade, requiring hikers to be mindful of sun exposure. The area serves as habitat for the Gunnison Sage Grouse, and dogs must be kept on a leash to protect this species. The location also includes a frisbee golf course. Access is available year-round.
