The Old Grand Mesa Downhill Shuttle Run is a 14.5-mile mountain biking trail on the southern face of Grand Mesa, near Cedaredge, Colorado. The route descends approximately 3,500 feet with minimal climbing, allowing riders to complete the run in as little as 30 minutes at average speeds exceeding 30 mph. The trail is classified as moderate and features well-maintained dirt roads with switchbacks, loose gravel, and occasional washboard sections. It links public roads with trails and includes a short stretch of highway 65, requiring riders to be mindful of vehicle traffic. The optimal season is April through October, though snow often delays full access until June. Hunting season in October and November increases traffic, making orange vests advisable. Parking is available at two main points: the Aspen Trails Campground on the west side of highway 65 serves as the base, while the Grand Mesa Visitor Center acts as the top shuttle point. Riders typically park one vehicle at the campground and shuttle the second to the visitor center or ride up paved road 121 past Alexander Lake Lodge and Baron Lake. The trail passes alpine lakes and offers views of the West Elks, San Juans, and Uncompahgre Plateau. Wildlife sightings include mule deer, elk, black bear, moose, and porcupines. The run ends on a section of the Ride the Rockies day 2 route.
