The trail spans approximately 16.6 miles with an elevation gain of roughly 2,400 feet and a descent of about 7,500 feet, starting at 4,731 feet and ending near 9,021 feet. Riders typically complete the section in about six hours. The trail is managed by the BLM Colorado Grand Junction Field Office and is part of the larger Palisade Plunge network, which offers about 32 miles of singletrack. The route is generally accessible from April through October, though seasonal closures can occur from December through May. Parking is available at the trailhead, and pets are allowed. Conditions vary; recent reports indicate the trail can be hot, dry, and loose, particularly in the lower sections, with some areas featuring loose rocks and overgrowth. The terrain includes varying elevation changes and features described as difficult to very difficult, with some double-black diamond features. Water is critical to carry, especially in summer when temperatures can reach the high 90s.
