About
The Perins Gulch Trail is a 1.2 to 1.8-mile hiking route in Durango, Colorado, located within Overend Mountain Park. The trail begins at the Leyden Street trailhead and ascends gently up the drainage toward Perin's Peak. Hikers follow the gulch, crossing a bridge and connecting with side trails to the banks. The route provides access to several other paths, including Hogsback, 8 Bells, Ned's Hill, Star Wars, and Brown’s Ridge. The trail is rated moderate in difficulty, with conditions becoming increasingly difficult toward the end of the route as the gulch walls rise. The trail is seasonally closed beyond a specific sign from December 1 to July 31. Due to the high walls of the gulch, hikers should avoid the trail when rain is forecasted. Parking is available at Leyden Street, Crestview Street, and Hidden Valley.
