About
Pine Point Campground sits on the east side of Vallecito Reservoir in the San Juan National Forest, approximately 14 miles north of Bayfield, Colorado. The site is accessible via Forest Road 603, which requires attention on rough sections. The campground features 28 sites, including 13 first-come, first-served spots, with a maximum RV length of 40 feet. Facilities include vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Some sites offer direct lake views and pull-thru access for trailers, though boat mooring areas are not well protected. The surrounding forest consists of ponderosa pines and blue spruce. Recreation on the reservoir includes fishing for German brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, and northern pike, as well as boating and canoeing. Nearby trails include the North Canyon Trail and East Creek Trail. The campground operates from May through September.
