About

Poor Man's Rifle is a rock climbing spot located near Rifle, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The site sits at an elevation of 6,159 feet and is classified as moderate in difficulty. It features a boulder approximately 15 feet high with a long vertical wall and a small roof. Climbers typically spend around four hours exploring the area, which remains accessible year-round from January through December. Parking is available on site, and pets are permitted. The climbing style involves following a thin crack up the left side of a roof to top out on the boulder. The area is marked by stacked rocks and is situated near the Trails End Boulder at the end of a loop trail. While nearby Rifle Mountain Park offers over 500 sport routes on limestone, Poor Man's Rifle provides a distinct, lower-difficulty option within the same region.
