About
The Rainbow Trail is a 4.5-mile mountain biking route connecting Silverton to the bottom of Ophir Pass Road. It functions primarily as a mixed singletrack and doubletrack trail, offering a descent from Silverton with the option to return via out-and-back or link to other routes like Columbine Lake. The trail is rated moderate and sits at an elevation of approximately 9,311 feet. Conditions vary, featuring scree fields, potential creek crossings during early spring runoff, and lingering snow patches until late spring. Recent trail work has improved conditions, including a machine-built alternative line in the lower third with berms, rollers, and wood features. Parking is available at the Silverton trailhead. The trail is accessible from April through October and permits pets.
