About

Ratical is a 1.7-mile moderate mountain biking trail in the Ridgway Area Trails (RAT) system near Ridgway, Colorado. Located at 7,604 feet elevation, the trail offers a mix of flowing sections and moderate technical challenges. It is part of a larger network of over 40 miles of hand-built singletrack managed by the COPMOBA volunteer chapter. The trailhead provides parking and is pet-friendly. Riders typically complete Ratical in about 25 minutes, though duration varies by pace. The best riding season runs from April through October, with the RAT system officially reopening for the season in early May. The area features high desert vegetation including sagebrush, juniper, and pinon trees, with views of the San Juan Mountains. E-bikes are not permitted on Ratical and most RAT trails. Trail signs indicate the 'most fun direction' for riding, and users should be aware of other trail users such as hikers and runners.
