RetroHang is a rock climbing area located in Palisade, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The site sits at an elevation of 5,112 feet and is characterized by a difficult climbing experience. The rock formation rises over 2,000 feet above the community of Gateway and presents a roughly rectangular profile that resembles a tower. Climbers access the site via Palisade Mountain, which offers steep granite routes and epic overlooks of the surrounding landscape and Continental Divide. The climbing area features a variety of trad and sport routes, with grades ranging from easy scrambles to advanced technical ascents. Specific notable routes include Fire in the Sky, The Nipple, and RetroHang itself, which is graded 5.11+ as a trad climb. The area supports year-round access, allowing climbers to visit from January through December. A parking area is available for visitors, and pets are permitted on the trails.
