Sale Barn - South Rim - Carbon Junction is a 7.4-mile loop in the Grandview Ridge trail system near Durango, Colorado. The route begins at the Carbon Junction trailhead, accessible via Dominguez Drive off Highway 550. The trail climbs steeply from the parking area before settling into curving singletrack that ascends to the mesa top. From there, it drops back into the canyon, crosses an arroyo, and continues onto the west mesa. The trail splits near the north branch leading to the Telegraph System; the south branch contours an open field before dropping precipitously to Carbon Junction. The final descent features loose switchbacks, requiring attention to avoid the highway. The route offers a mix of cruising and technical challenges suitable for intermediate riders. Winter wildlife closures apply from December 1 through April 30, with possible extension to April 15 depending on conditions. Parking is available at the trailhead, and pets are permitted. Riders should carry water and tools.
