About
The Sale Barn Trail is a moderate, 0.7-mile hiking route in Durango, Colorado, situated at an elevation of 6,739 feet. The trail climbs from a parking lot, crosses a structure resembling an old dam, and switchbacks up a cliff to reach the mesa. Although the namesake Sale Barn is no longer present, the trail was purpose-built in 2000 and has been rerouted and shortened to accommodate nearby gravel pit expansion. The route is open year-round, though winter wildlife closures may apply between December 1 and April 30. It is a multi-use trail suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and trail running, with dogs required to be leashed. Parking is available at the trailhead near Carbon Junction.
