The Scout Trail, also known as the Boy Scout Trail, is a difficult hiking and mountain biking route in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Starting off 8th Street, the trail climbs steeply toward the summit of Lookout Mountain at an elevation of 5,771 feet. The route spans approximately 2.4 to 3 miles round trip and typically takes about two hours to complete. Hikers ascend a gully, contour east across dry hillsides, and reach an outlook offering views of Glenwood Springs and the Flat Tops. The trail intersects with the Forest Hollow section, which leads to high rim views of the Colorado River and steep cliff edges below. The path is dog friendly, requires a leash for dogs, and offers parking at the trailhead. While used heavily by mountain bikers, it provides a rare elevated perspective of Glenwood Canyon for hikers. The trail is accessible year-round, though winter conditions may require additional preparation.
