Shearer Creek is a rugged, difficult mountain biking trail in the Missionary Ridge area of Durango, Colorado. The route spans approximately 8.1 miles with an elevation gain reaching roughly 10,350 feet. It is best suited for experienced riders due to steep terrain, heavy rock coverage, and challenging route-finding. The trail is often overgrown and littered with deadfall, particularly at higher elevations, and rides like a cowpath or hiking trail rather than a maintained singletrack. Horse traffic frequently tears up the surface. Access begins just off CR 240 on Florida Road. The lower portion of the trail crosses a private guest ranch easement before entering the San Juan National Forest. Riders must close gates and keep dogs on a leash while on the private property. The typical duration is around 2.5 to 3 hours. The top of the trail is most easily accessed by riding up Missionary Ridge and dropping in, though finding the exact top entry can be difficult.
