About

Silver Bell Campground is a developed site in White River National Forest, located 5.5 miles southwest of Aspen on Maroon Creek Road. The facility sits at 8,460 feet elevation along the banks of Maroon Creek, surrounded by aspen groves and subalpine forests. It offers 14 campsites, including drive-in sites for tents, trailers, and small RVs (up to 30 feet), as well as specific tent-only and walk-in sites. Amenities include picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets, and food storage lockers (bear boxes). Drinking water is listed as available, though visitor reports indicate spigots may not always function, so carrying water for fire extinguishing is advised. The campground is open from late May through late September. Access requires passing the Maroon Bells Welcome Station. The site provides direct access to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness trailheads, though timed entry or parking restrictions may apply to the area itself. Pets are permitted according to official Forest Service data, despite one review source stating otherwise.
