About
Silverton Mountain Ski Area is a high-alpine, expert-only ski destination located near Silverton, Colorado. It is distinguished by its steep, natural terrain and lack of groomed runs. The ski area features a single chairlift that ascends from a base elevation of 10,400 feet to 12,300 feet, providing access to 1,819 acres of terrain. The peak elevation reaches 13,487 feet. The terrain consists primarily of bowls, chutes, cliffs, and natural features rather than cut runs. Skiers can hike from the lift top along a ridge to access additional descent options, potentially totaling 3,000 feet of vertical drop in a single run. The resort is known for guided and unguided skiing, as well as heli-skiing options. It is suitable for advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders. Parking is available on-site, and pets are permitted. The ski area typically operates from November through April, though specific dates vary by season and snow conditions.
