About

Skull Pass is a 1-mile singletrack mountain biking trail in Gunnison, Colorado, accessed off Road 3550 (Powerline Road). To reach the trailhead, cross a cattle guard on Road 3550 and descend slightly before looking for the singletrack entrance on the left. The trail is rated difficult (black diamond) with tight, fast turns through trees and a few short, harder technical sections. It is a loop that ends at a spur road; riders take an immediate right onto the Skull Pass spur 4x4 road to return to Road 3550. The trail sits at 8,178 feet elevation and is open from April through October, though it closes until May 15 annually for Sage Grouse habitat protection. Parking is available near the trailhead, and pets are allowed. The ride typically takes about 20 minutes.
