About
Skull Rock is a steep, downhill mountain biking trail located in the Grandview Ridge trail network near Durango, Colorado. The 1.2-mile route connects Sidewinder to the north and South Rim Trail to the south. The trail features a long section of gentle valley followed by short, steep hills of bedrock or gravel. The southern end descends through steep Mancos shale inclines. Conditions include loose dirt and slippery shale, particularly on the final rock section early in the season. The trail is part of the Telegraph system and is subject to winter wildlife closures from December 1 through April 30, with possible reopening on April 15 depending on conditions. Parking is available at the trailhead.
