About

Skull Rock Trail is a 1.2 to 1.4-mile multi-use route located in the Grandview Ridge Trail System near Durango, Colorado. The trail connects Sidewinder Trail to the north with Cowboy Trail to the south, serving as a popular extension for mountain bikers and hikers. It is rated difficult and features steep, technical singletrack with uneven terrain, including short, steep bedrock or gravel hills. The trail is designed as 'swoopy' and is best experienced descending. Parking is available at Carbon Junction, accessed via Dominguez Drive off Highway 160. The trail is open year-round for hiking, mountain biking, and trail running, though it is part of a larger system that may have seasonal closures for wildlife protection in adjacent areas.
