Situated at an elevation of approximately 6,882 feet with a total elevation gain of about 208 feet, the trail offers a relatively stable climb with uneven terrain. It is part of the Grandview Ridge Trail System, connecting to the Horse Gulch and Telegraph networks. The trail surface is dirt, and it features smooth, curvy sections with views of Durango and the surrounding San Juan Mountains. Hiking takes approximately two hours, though some sources suggest up to 2 hours and 19 minutes. The trail is open year-round, with potential snow cover from January to March and wildflowers in warmer months. It allows hiking, biking, trail running, and dogs.
