About

The Grail, locally known as the Dike Wall, is a rock climbing area located in Ridgway, Colorado, on the Western Slope. Situated at an elevation of 7,100 to 7,709 feet, the site features a vertically oriented volcanic basalt dike cutting through Entrada and Cutler sandstone layers. The climbing wall faces east, receiving morning sun while remaining cool and shady during mid-summer. Routes are primarily sport climbs with some traditional options, ranging from 30 feet to approximately 1,400 feet in length. The difficulty level is moderate, though loose holds require caution and helmets are recommended. Parking is available on-site, and the area is pet-friendly. Access is via U.S. Highway 550, approximately three miles south of the Ridgway stoplight. Climbers should look for a non-descript BLM road on the left after passing Orvis Hot Springs and Weber's campground. The site is open year-round, with historical top-rope climbing dating back decades.
