These Ol' Bones is a 120-foot sport climb located on Palisade Mountain in Big Thompson Canyon, near Estes Park, Colorado. The route is rated 5.9- and is classified as a long, polished face climb. It features 16 bolts for protection. The climb begins on a blocky lower section before moving into a narrow dihedral and across a water groove on the upper face. The route is noted for its sustained nature and quality rock. Access is via the Skull Rock area, with parking available near Subskull. The approach involves a moderate hike through open forest and craggy terrain. The area is generally open, though access has been subject to forest service closures related to the Cameron Peak Fire and dead tree clearance; recent reports indicate the area has been open since 2023. Climbers should wear helmets due to potential debris shedding from the dihedral during rope lowering. A 70-meter rope is recommended for lowering, though a 60-meter rope can be used if climbers are willing to unclip draws or lower to a secondary anchor set known as 'But It’s Low Angle.' The climb is suitable for year-round use, with the south-facing aspect of Palisade Mountain making it favorable for winter and early spring climbing.
