About

Trojan Horse is a rock climbing route near Glenwood Springs, Colorado, situated at 7,019 feet. The climb offers a moderate difficulty experience with a mix of granite and quartzite rock. The route begins at the Beginner Slab, featuring a scrappy ascent up granite, but most climbers prefer to hike past the granite to start on the upper quartzite pitches, which are rated as far better. The climb tops out at a viewpoint overlooking the Colorado River and the Flattops canyon. The route consists of seven pitches, with grades ranging from 5.3 to 5.7. Pitch 1 starts with a wide corner crack between two slabs. Pitch 2 involves crossing a gully and climbing a crack behind a pine tree to a large ledge with tombstone-like flakes. Pitch 3 moves up a steep face with loose rock to a granite feature. Pitch 4 scrambles up and left to gain the top of the granite, ending at a large dead pine tree. Pitch 5 climbs up and left into a large gully with foliage to a gear anchor. Pitch 6 features an airy traverse left or easier dirtier terrain, followed by a short corner and a steep crack. Pitch 7 climbs up and right toward a chimney with bolts and a fixed pin. The area is pet-friendly, has on-site parking, and is accessible year-round. The estimated duration for the climb is about 12 hours.
