About
True GRIT, known as the Greatest Route in Telluride, is a via ferrata climbing route located on the South-facing wall of Telluride's boxed canyon in Western Colorado. The site sits at an elevation of 12,781 feet and offers moderate difficulty suitable for technical climbers. The route features iron rungs, cables, and ladders bolted into the rock face, allowing climbers to traverse steep sections while clipped in. A key feature is the 'Main Event,' a section where climbers are suspended approximately 500 feet above the ground on small iron footholds. The climb is accessible year-round, with parking available near the route entrance. Pets are permitted on the trail. The location provides views of Bridal Veil Falls and the San Juan Mountains. Climbers should use two carabiners clipped to the cable or rungs for safety, with an extra carabiner available for rest breaks. The route is well-used and has evolved from its previous underground status to a popular destination.
