The Vulture trail is a short, technical route located in the Animas Mountain area near Durango, Colorado. It is less established than surrounding trails and features rocky, steep terrain with twists and turns. The trail begins at the Sailing Hawks loop and climbs up the cliff rim to connect with Upper Merve. It is rated as difficult and technical. The trail is approximately 0.7 miles long with an elevation gain to roughly 7,648 feet. Parking is available, and the trail is accessible year-round. Dogs must be leashed.
