About

Wake The Flake is a difficult trad climbing route located in Palisade, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The climb ascends a golden hanging slab situated in the center of a cliff face, approximately 90 feet (27 meters) long. The route begins on a small ledge system reached by an easy gully scramble, positioned 40 feet above the cliff base. Climbers follow a corner up to a small pine tree, then traverse right through a bulge and roof via a fingercrack to reach the hanging flake. The route continues up the flake until higher than a large roof in the adjacent corner, then steps left into the corner for the topout. The climb features standard protection, requiring a rack up to #3 Camalot. The area is pet friendly and offers parking. Access has been open since 2023 via Devil's Gulch Road, following the resolution of closure issues related to the Cameron Peak Fire. The route was first ascended by Jason Seaver and Jim Belcer in 2006.
