Managed by the U.S. Forest Service since 1905, Avalanche Campground anchors the Redstone Historic District with facilities that include free wifi and a 24-hour front desk. The surrounding national forest offers extensive recreational options, ranging from over 300 day hikes to mountain biking trails. Visitors can engage in motorized and non-motorized boating, horseback riding, or fishing in local lakes and streams. Winter activities such as snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are also available, alongside OHV trail riding and wildlife viewing. The site accommodates both single picnickers and groups, providing ample parking for those exploring the area's natural resources.
