Frontier Baptist Church

Established in September 1992 by Pastor Peter Reitz, Frontier Baptist Church stands as an independent, fundamental congregation in Durango, Colorado. The ministry began its journey meeting in an 1800s Baptist chapel along County Road 225, where early members baptized in the nearby Florida River. In 2006, the congregation relocated to town, taking over the Calvary Baptist facility to continue its mission of clear Bible preaching and discipleship. Pastor Reitz, who grew up on a Nebraska ranch and was saved at age 12, brings decades of ministry experience from Nebraska, Illinois, and Colorado to this community. The church operates independently, self-sustaining and self-governing, without affiliation to a larger denominational group. Services are held on Sundays, including a 9:45 am Sunday School for all ages, a 10:45 am morning service, and a :00 pm evening service, with Wednesday evening prayer and Bible study at 7:00 pm. The congregation focuses on expository preaching, genuine fellowship, and reaching the lost with the gospel through local and global missions. Their calendar features annual events such as Vacation Bible School, youth camps, and revival meetings, reflecting a commitment to spiritual growth and community outreach.
