Built in 1913, our original homestead house anchors the Redstone Historic District as a historic landmark and manager’s residence. We operate Avalanche Ranch, a 36-acre property situated at 7000 feet overlooking the Crystal River with Mt. Sopris towering above at 12,953 feet. Our accommodation options include 13 cozy log cabins built between the 1890s and 1950s, a 2008 Loft Apartment sleeping up to six guests, and a spacious three-bedroom Ranch House for eight. Each cabin features unique décor, with some offering woodstoves and clawfoot tubs, while all units include private yards with BBQ grills. Guests enjoy 24-hour access to three hot springs pools, a stocked trout pond, and half a mile of private riverfront. The Lodge remains open around the clock, offering a lounge with free videos and a game room equipped with ping-pong. We offer fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing, and paddleboat rides in the summer, alongside snowshoeing, sledding, skiing, and tubing during winter months. Our grounds feature apple and plum orchards, a treehouse, an ice rink, and resident animals including Seamous the llama and Tony the donkey. The attached original garage houses an antiques shop where guests can browse unique furniture, decor, and small gift items. We also provide fresh eggs, snacks, and butter for those staying in our cabins.
