DetailsCamping on the Southern Ute Indian Tribe’s lake offers a distinct fee structure based on tribal membership, with general public tent sites starting at $18 per night and RV sites at $25. The facility operates seasonally, opening Thursday through Sunday in early spring before shifting to seven days a week from late March through October. Southern Ute Rangers patrol the grounds to enforce rules, ensuring safety for visitors who utilize the bait shop and fishing opportunities. Anglers purchase daily permits directly on-site, as a separate State of Colorado license is not required for Lake Capote fishing. Day-use fees are $5 for non-tribal members per car, while tribal members enter for free. The campground accommodates both tents and RVs, with specific departure times required during the four-day-a-week operating periods. A bait shop remains open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm during the initial spring schedule. The area is currently subject to Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. Wheelchair accessibility and free Wi-Fi are available for guests staying at the 24-hour front desk facility.
