Thirty-two forest campsites and two insulated yurts define the camping experience at Mancos State Park, situated along Jackson Gulch Reservoir in Southwestern Colorado. The 23 sites on the south side sit within a mature ponderosa pine forest, offering vault toilets and drinking water but no electrical hookups or showers. Nine additional sites on the northwest side cater primarily to tent campers, with restrooms nearby but no drinking water. Two cozy yurts provide a unique lodging option, featuring ceiling fans and insulated walls for year-round comfort. The park remains open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a visitor center operating from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entrance fees range from $10 to $15 for a daily vehicle pass, while individual daily passes cost $4. Leashed dogs and service animals are permitted, as are horses. A current Montezuma County fire ban prohibits wood burning campfires and open burning, though charcoal and gas grilling are allowed in designated fire rings or grills. Reservations are required for both campsites and yurts, which can be made online or by phone up to six months in advance. The maximum stay is 14 days within a 28-day period, with check-in at 1 p.m. and check-out at noon. Amenities include fire pits, picnic tables, a dump station, and the option to purchase firewood. The park serves as a convenient base camp for exploring nearby attractions such as Mesa Verde National Park and Durango.
