Main Street Steamboat Springs

Formed in 2006 to preserve and enhance Downtown Steamboat Springs, Main Street Steamboat Springs serves as the organizational hub for the area’s commercial and social life. The group follows the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street 4-Point Approach, focusing on promotion, design, economic vitality, and organization. This methodology helps maintain downtown as the central gathering place for the county, countering the spread of retail to ski-area-adjacent zones. The organization manages infrastructure improvements like bus stop design and flower installations along Lincoln and Yampa streets, while also organizing litter cleanups. It champions local businesses, from traditional shops to new galleries and coffee spots, and hosts events like the Main Street Steamboat Farmers Market, which runs Saturdays from June through September along Yampa Street. Recognized as a Colorado Main Street Community and an Accredited Main Street community, it has achieved Graduate Community status from the state. The entity also preserves the area's history, referencing landmarks like the FM Light store established in 1905 and Carl Howelsen’s historic stone buildings.
