About
Housed in a building that has stood for over a century, the Meeker Public Library occupies a structure once used as a general merchant store, hardware store, and photo studio before the library took over in 2008. The institution traces its roots to July 1913, when the local Woman's Club formed in the Meeker Hotel Parlors and initially operated the library from a small room in one of the first Army Headquarters buildings. Following a town election in April 1918, the Town of Meeker assumed maintenance responsibilities, leading to the establishment of a library board and eventually the Meeker Regional Library District in 1974. Today, the facility features a larger meeting room available for reservation and an outdoor space for patrons. Services include free Wi-Fi accessible on any device, public computer usage for those 18 and older with parental permission for children, and printing and copying capabilities with specified pricing for black-and-white and color documents. A fax number is also provided for external communications. The library maintains digital collections of ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and music, and hosts regular events such as Author Talks, Storytime, and children's crafts.
