Custom wedding cakes and dessert catering define our work at Mountain Dough Baking Co., a Durango-based bakery that transitioned from a home kitchen operation in 2019 to a dedicated commercial facility in October 2023. We specialize in creating made-from-scratch cakes, cupcakes, macarons, and custom-decorated sugar cookies for weddings, special celebrations, and large events. Our owner, Kim, a Fort Lewis Alumni Class of 1995 and Johnson & Wales Culinary School graduate, has deep roots in the area dating back to 1990. We operate out of a fully licensed commercial kitchen, ensuring every creation uses fresh ingredients and meets high standards of quality. Our focus is on delivering beautiful, delicious treats, including smaller birthday and specialty cakes when availability permits. We are proud to be a woman-owned local business that has earned "Best of Durango" second-place honors in the Bakery category for both 2024 and 2025, our very first year open as a formal shop. We handle consultations and pickups by appointment, allowing us to dedicate the necessary time and care to each custom order.
